 Деление чистой прибыли акционерного общества, на выплачиваемую акционерам общества в качестве ежегодных дивидендов по принадлежащим им акциям, на выплату тантьем и капитализированную прибыль, направляемую на увеличение собственного капитала и резервов.

Ежегодная процедура распределения валовой (общей) прибыли предприятия (компании) между направлениями ее использования: пополнением собственного капитала, выплатой в форме дивидендов акционерам, уплатой налогов — федерального, регионального, местного, а также благотворительной деятельностью и т.д. Уплата налогов и взносов и другие обязательные платежи регулируются государством. Распределение остающейся чистой прибыли определяется учредительными документами компании или решениями учредительного органа. Часть чистой прибыли, направленная на потребление, может расходоваться на различные социальные выплаты (материальное поощрение, единовременные пособия, бесплатное питание, пенсионные программы и т.п.). Другая часть направляется на финансирование инвестиций и прироста оборотных средств (капитализация прибыли), то есть на увеличение стоимости имущества предприятия. Учет операций по использованию прибыли ведется в балансе предприятия.
